UPM Plywood is planning to scale down plywood production in Finland
UPM Plywood has announced that it intends to close their Jyväskylä Finland plywood mill. Despite investments as well improvement activities, profitability remains an issue, even during periods of high demand. Jyväskylä mill employs 167 people and was manufacturing spruce and birch plywood. According to Mika Sillanpää, Exec VP of UPM Plywood, the products currently manufactured in Jyväskylä would be produced in other UPM Plywood mills in Finland, Estonia, and Russia.
