New Mill to Open in Valemount B.C. this Fall.

Amidst all of the mill curtailments and closing in British Columbia an announcement has been made about a new mill opening in the Valemount community. The Valemount Community Forest has purchased mill equipment, which includes a hogger, chippers, conveyors, chip bin and debarker, from Edgewater Holdings in Prince George and parts of it are already on their way to Valemount. Manager Craig Pryor said he hopes to have the mill operational by late fall. He noted that it will take anywhere from 50 to 100 trips to get all of the pieces and parts from Prince George to Valemount. The core of the new mill was built in 2009, so Pryor says it is relatively new. The mill will be set up to run smaller diameter logs and produce 2x4s and 2x6s for the construction market.
