US Wood Pellet Exports Increase in May
USDA: US wood pellet exports top 853,395 metric tons in May
The US exported 853,395.1 metric tons of wood pellets in May, up from 846,693.2 metric tons in April but down from 926,284.4 metric tons in May 2024, a Biomass Magazine review (7-8-25) of data released by the US Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service shows.
The US exported wood pellets to approximately 16 countries in May. The UK was the top destination at 661,601.4 metric tons, followed by Japan at 88,842.8 metric tons and the French West Indies at 43,207.5 metric tons.
The value of wood pellet exports was $159.23 million in May, down slightly from $159.39 million in the previous month and from $167.38 million a year earlier.
Total wood pellet exports for the first five months of 2025 reached 4.1 million metric tons at a value of $789.67 million, compared to 4.08 million metric tons at a value of $764.94 million during the same period last year.
