Georgia-Pacific Idles OSB Mill and Lumber Mill in South Carolina
Georgia-Pacific announced the indefinitely idling of its OSB mill in Allendale, SC and softwood lumber mill in McCormick, SC due to weak market conditions. The mills will end production within 60 days. The company indicated that they will maintain the facilities to allow restarts if market expectations change. The Allendale mill represents nearly 3% of total North American OSB capacity and the McCormick mill accounts for roughly 0.5% of the US South’s softwood lumber capacity.
