Conifex Timber Announces 2-Week Temporary Curtailment at Its Mackenzie, BC, Operation

Citing declining lumber prices and a worldwide softening for softwood lumber demand, Conifex Timber Inc. announced on Friday afternoon (10-7-22) that it would be temporarily curtailing production at its Mackenzie, BC, sawmill operation for two weeks, starting on Tuesday, October 11th.

Conifex said it expects the temporary curtailment will affect its production capacity in Q4 by approximately 7 million board feet.

In August, citing “acute transportation challenges,” the company said it was reducing the operating schedule at the Mackenzie sawmill to a one-shift per day basis.
