Canfor on Monday (12-5-22) announced that due to very weak market conditions, it will be temporarily reducing production through curtailments at all of its solid wood facilities in British Columbia and Alberta.
Implementation of the curtailments is scheduled to start on Monday, December 19th, and they will remove approximately 150 million board feet of production in December and January. Canfor says the curtailments will range from one to four weeks and will be across all of its Canadian operations.
Canfor says it will continue to adjust operating rates to align with market conditions and anticipates that a majority of its BC facilities will operate below full capacity in the New Year.
