Mellanskog announced that it is lowering timber prices across several product ranges in Sweden, with the changes taking effect April 9 and applying to new contracts.
The adjustment reflects a continued weakening in market conditions and lower demand, Mellanskog said.
Under the new pricing structure, base prices for timber are reduced by 30–150 SEK/m3fub, depending on the wood type. Softwood pulpwood base prices are now set at 410–460 SEK/m3fub.
The association noted that base prices will continue to vary by geography across Sweden. For timber sourced from storm-damaged forests, open pricing will apply, with final prices determined later once the full extent of storm impacts is assessed.
