Segezha Group to Begin Supplying Products to Mexico

On Wednesday, Interfax reported that Segezha Group, a Russian forestry holding company, will begin supplying its products to Mexico. The first plywood supply contract was signed at the Expo CIHAC construction and furniture industry exhibition, the company’s press service said.

Segezha has no previous presence in the Mexican market and did not disclose the contract value. “The shipment includes a wide range of plywood of various grades and formats. Interest in the holding’s products was shown by several companies from different sectors of the Mexican economy straight away,” the press service said.

“Mexico represents one of the key countries in Latin America, a dynamically developing region with growing construction and furniture markets. We saw great interest in our birch plywood from local specialists,” said Dmitry Beresnev, Segezha’s vice president for commercial activities.

Beresnev added that the trial shipment marks the first step in establishing a foothold in the Latin American market. He said future supplies of forest industry products to the region are expected to benefit from state subsidies covering part of logistics costs through operators such as FESCO and Transcontainer.
