Mekong Wood Begins Production at New MDF Plant in Phu Tho, Vietnam

The Mekong Wood MDF Joint Stock Company, formerly recognized for trading in wood-based panels, has ventured into the production of MDF panels, with a new plant in Cam Khe, Phu Tho, Vietnam, Wood & Panel Europe reported (7-3-24).

The facility produced its first panels on June 3rd.

In 2022, Mekong Wood enlisted Siempelkamp’s expertise as a system supplier for the wood-based panel industry for this project. Siempelkamp’s comprehensive services encompass the planning and supply of the entire process technology, as well as overseeing the installation and start-up of the completed plant.

The MDF plant has an annual capacity of over 400,000 m3. The thickness range of the boards is focused on 15 to 17 mm, and a range of 3.5 to 32 mm is possible. The feed material is largely made up of the local acacia and eucalyptus.
