HS Timber Group Acquires Swedish Sawmill Malå Såg From Setra Group

Austria’s HS Timber Group announced Wednesday that it has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares in Swedish sawmill operator Malå Såg AB from Setra Trävaror AB, a subsidiary of Setra Group AB. The transaction remains subject to approval by the relevant authorities.

Operating since 1946, Malå Såg is a well-established sawmill in northern Sweden specializing in high-quality northern pine products for markets including Norway, Sweden, Japan, the UK, and North Africa. The company also supplies raw materials to the regional pulp and bioenergy industries.

HS Timber Group said the acquisition expands its portfolio of high-quality wood products sourced from sustainably managed Swedish forests. The company noted its partnership with the Swedish State Forest enterprise Sveaskog will underpin a long-term collaboration focused on sustainable value creation out of a first-class raw material.

Following completion of an ongoing investment program, Malå Såg is expected to reach an annual production capacity of up to 340,000 m3 of kiln-dried and further processed sawn timber, including planed materials, decking, cladding, and slats.

HS Timber Group will retain all existing employees and plans to continue developing the facility with the local management team.
