Brazilian Exports of Wood-Based Products Increase Year-Over-Year in May

According to the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), Brazilian exports of wood-based products (excluding pulp and paper) increased 2.7% in value in May 2024 compared to May 2023, rising from US$328.3 million to $337.0 million.

Pine sawnwood exports declined 14% in value, from $74.5 million in May 2023 to $64.1 million in May 2024. In terms of volume, exports dropped 11%, from 306,300 m³ to 271,300 m³ during the same period.

Tropical sawnwood exports tumbled 18% in volume, from 29,000 m³ in May 2023 to 23,900 m³ in May 2024. In terms of value, exports fell 36%, from $14.9 million to $9.6 million over the same period.

Pine plywood exports increased 20% in value, from $63.8 million in May 2023 to $76.5 million in May 2024. In terms of volume, exports increased 11%, from 195,900 m³ in May 2023 to 217,100 m³ in May 2024.

Tropical plywood exports increased 9% in volume and 11% in value, rising from 3,200 m³ and $1.9 million in May 2023 to 3,500 m³ and $2.1 million in May 2024.

The value of wooden furniture exports increased from $52.1 million in May 2023 to $54.6 million in May 2024, marking a 5% increase during this period.
