Brazilian Exports of Wood-Based Products Fall in July
According to the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), Brazilian exports of wood-based products (excluding pulp and paper) totaled $285.2 million in July, a 7.0% decrease from $305.6 million in July 2025.
Pine sawnwood exports fell 0.5% in value, from $62.1 million in July 2025 to $61.8 million. Export volume fell 4.0% over the same period, from 265,100 m3 to 254,400 m3.
Tropical sawnwood export volume was unchanged at 28,800 m3. In value, exports rose 23.0%, from $11.7 million to $14.4 million.
Pine plywood exports rose 2.0% in value, from $61.4 million in July 2025 to $62.8 million. Export volume declined from 194,700 m3 to 189,100 m3.
Tropical plywood exports rose 7.0% in volume, from 2,800 m3 to 3,000 m3, while declining 6.0% in value, from $1.8 million to $1.7 million.
Wooden furniture exports fell 14.0% year-over-year, from $54.1 million in July 2025 to $46.6 million in July.
Year-to-Date
Year-to-date, Brazilian exports of major wood products (excluding MDF, pulp, and paper) totaled $1.5 billion through July, approximately $275 million below the same period in 2025. ITTO said the decline reflected growing international protectionism, Brazil’s dependence on the US market, and domestic competitiveness challenges.
Pine sawnwood exports increased 3.0% in volume year-to-date, while pine plywood exports declined 17.0% in volume and 18.0% in value. Wood moulding exports fell by more than 50.0%.
