Lumber company invests $7.4M to reopen Henry County sawmill
On Thursday, Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger announced that Antlers, Oklahoma-based Twain Lumber Company will invest $7.4 million to purchase and reopen the former Teal Jones sawmill in Henry County, DWBJ7 reported (9-10-26). The company plans to purchase $51.2 million in Virginia forest products over the next three years.
Idle since 2024, the reopened facility is expected to create 74 jobs. Twain Lumber will purchase new production machinery and upgrade equipment, increasing the sawmill’s capacity from 80 million board feet annually to 108 million board feet at full production.
The governor’s office said the expansion will make the facility one of the largest Southern pine sawmills in Virginia.
The project is receiving a $150,000 Tobacco Region Incentive for Agribusiness Development Grant. An additional $59,200 from the Virginia Jobs Investment Program will support workforce training.
