Brazilian Exports of Wood-Based Products Declined Month-Over-Month and Year-Over-Year in April
According to the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), in April 2023, Brazilian exports of wood-based products (except pulp and paper) declined 29.0% in value compared to April 2022, from US$470.2 million in April 2022 to US$336.1 million in April 2023.
Pine sawnwood exports fell 23.0% in value, decreasing from US$77.3 million in April 2022 to US$59.5 million in April 2023. In volume, exports declined 6.0% during the same period, from 281,200 cu.m to 264,000 cu.m.
Tropical sawnwood exports decreased 29.0% in volume, from 40,900 cu.m in April 2022 to 29,000 cu.m in April 2023. In value terms, exports decreased 17.0%, from US$18.7 million to US$15.5 million over the same time period.
Demand for pine plywood exports fell 41.0%, from US$100.3 million in April 2022 to US$59.4 million in April 2023. In volume, exports dropped 23.0% over the same time period, from 234,200 cu.m to 179,900 cu.m.
Tropical plywood exports declined 64.0% in volume and 64.0% in value, from 8,400 cu.m and US$4.7 million in April 2022 to 3,000 cu.m and US$1.7 million in April 2023.
The value of wooden furniture exports fell from US$52.8 million in April 2022 to US$47.2 million in April 2023. This represents an 11.0% decline in total wooden furniture exports.
