US Weekly Jobless Claims Decline for the Week Ending October 29th

The US Department of Labor is reporting the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial unemployment claims was 217,000 during the week ending October 29th; this is a decrease of 1,000 from the previous week’s revised level of 218,000 (originally reported as 217,000). The 4-week moving average was 218,750—a decrease of 500 from the previously week’s revised level of 219,250 (originally reported as 219,000).

The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment, known as continuing claims, during the week ending October 22nd was 1,485,000; this is an increase of 47,000 from the previous week’s unrevised level of 1,438,000. The 4-week moving average was 1,417,500—an increase of 30,000 from the previous week’s unrevised average of 1,387,500.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.0% for the week ending October 22nd, unchanged from the previous week’s unrevised rate.
