On Thursday, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that the Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand held steady in July on a seasonally adjusted basis. This followed a 0.1% decrease in June.
On an unadjusted basis, the index was up 4.7% over the 12 months ending in July.
The monthly change reflected a 0.2% increase in prices for final demand services and a 2.2% advance in prices for final demand construction, offset by a 0.7% decrease in the index for final demand goods.
The index for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services rose 0.4% in July after a 0.1% increase in June. Year-over-year, the measure was up 4.7%.
