S&P Cotality Case-Shiller Index Reports 0.7% Annual Gain in US Home Prices in March

On Tuesday, S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI) released the S&P Cotality Case-Shiller US National Home Price NSA Index, formerly known as the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Indices. Year-over-year, the Index posted a 0.7% gain in March, down from an upwardly revised 0.8% increase in February.

The 10-City Composite rose 1.4% annually, compared with a 1.5% increase in February. The 20-City Composite advanced 0.8% year-over-year, easing from a 0.9% rise the prior month.

Among the 20 cities, Chicago recorded the largest annual increase at 6.1%, followed by New York (4.0%) and Cleveland (3.0%). Seattle registered the weakest return with a 2.5% decline.

Before seasonal adjustment, the US National Index rose 0.7% month-over-month. The 10-City Composite increased 1.2%, and the 20-City Composite rose 1.0%.

After seasonal adjustment, the National Index fell 0.2% month-over-month, while the 10-City Composite declined 0.03% and the 20-City Composite decreased 0.2%.
