Producer Price Index for Final Demand Inches Higher Month-Over-Month and Year-Over-Year in June

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported Thursday (7-13-23) that the Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand, seasonally adjusted, increased 0.1% in June, after declining 0.4% in May and increasing 0.1% April. On an unadjusted basis, the index for final demand advanced 0.1% for the 12-month period ending in June.

The increase in the final demand prices can be traced to a 0.2% rise in the index for final demand services. Prices for final demand goods were unchanged.

The index for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services inched up 0.1% in June, following no change in May and an increase of 0.1% in April. For the 12-month period ending in June, prices for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services advanced 2.6%.
