Unifor Members Ratify New Agreement With CN, Averting Strike

Unifor, the union that represents more than 3,000 members at Canadian National Railroad (CN), announced on December 22 that its membership has ratified a four-year collective agreement, averting potential strike action, Reuters reported (12-22-24).

The new agreement includes wage and benefit enhancements, along with job protections for members working at CN terminals and headquarters across Canada, according to Unifor.

“This agreement secures important gains that reflect the critical contributions of Unifor members to CN’s operations,” Unifor National President Lana Payne said in a statement.

Background

In late November, Unifor members authorized a strike action if the parties failed to reach an agreement by January 1.

In early December, the railroad reached a new tentative four-year collective agreement with the union.
