US to Pause Tariffs on Canada and Mexico for 30 Days
On Monday, US President Donald Trump announced he would pause implementation of tariffs on Mexico and Canada for 30 days after the two countries agreed to boost border security efforts, the Associated Press reported (2-3-25).
Trump on Saturday had directed that 25% tariffs on most imports from Canada and Mexico—and 10% on Canadian energy products—go into effect at midnight Tuesday.
The 10% tariff on China is still set to go into effect as scheduled on Tuesday, though Trump planned to talk with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the next few days.
