US Releases Final Antidumping Determination in Sixth Administrative Review of Canadian Softwood Lumber

On Friday, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) released its final determinations for the sixth administrative review (AR6) of antidumping duties on certain softwood lumber products from Canada.

The period of review is January 1, 2023, through December 31, 2023. The final rates—slightly higher than the preliminary rates published earlier this year—are summarized in the table below:

These rates will take effect once they are published in the Federal Register, expected within approximately one week. At that point, total deposits on Canadian lumber shipments to the US will increase from the current 14.40% to 27.30%. FEA will publish the final notices when they become available.

The final results of the countervailing duty for AR6 are expected to be released in August. Based on the preliminary countervailing determination released earlier this year (14.38%), lumber duties may approach nearly 35% once both final AR6 rates are published.
