US National Interagency Fire Center Wildfire Update for June 5

The US National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) reported that as of Friday, June 5, six large fires are actively burning across the country, with one new fire reported in the last day.
The National Wildfire Preparedness Level remains at 2 out of 5. A total of 2,336 personnel are assigned to incidents nationwide, including one complex incident management team committed to the Seven Cabins Fire in New Mexico.
NIFC said elevated fire weather conditions will persist across areas of the Southwest and southern Great Basin due to strong winds, dry conditions, and very warm temperatures.

As of Friday, there are six large wildfires or emergency responses ongoing, with none listed as partially contained. About 11,200 acres are actively burning.
Florida and Idaho each have two large wildfires, while Alaska and North Carolina each have one.
The updated year-to-date comparison is as follows:
- Year-to-date through June 5, 31,511 wildfires have been reported, burning 2,474,611 acres.
- During the same period last year, 29,239 wildfires were reported, burning 1,240,993 acres.
- The 10-year average (2016–25) for the same period is 22,418 wildfires and 1,279,756 acres burned.
