NZ Super Fund Raises US Timberland Mandate With Domain Timber Advisors to US$200 Million
On Monday, Domain Timber Advisors (DTA) announced that the Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation, manager of the New Zealand Superannuation Fund (NZ Super Fund), made an additional US$50 million commitment to its value-added US timberland separately managed account with DTA. The commitment brings total capital under the mandate to $200 million.
The organizations established the mandate in 2023 with an initial $150 million commitment from NZ Super Fund. DTA has since fully deployed that capital across a diversified portfolio of US timberland investments.
The additional capital will allow DTA to pursue acquisitions that complement its existing holdings and seek value-creation opportunities across current and future investments.
DTA’s value-added strategy focuses on non-industrial, fragmented, or undermanaged timberland. The approach combines forestry management, certification and stewardship, property improvements, aggregation, and selective land-use opportunities.
