He collects survey-based price data to support PricePulse and provides commentary on lumber and panel markets, using his industry relationships and insight to help clients stay current with the latest trends.
A 50-year veteran of the lumber, panel, and building materials industries, Joe brings a rare depth of market knowledge and an extensive industry network to FEA’s analysis. Few professionals match his combination of tenure, market coverage, and firsthand experience. His career spans nearly every segment of the market—from purchasing to transporting lumber, plywood, OSB, and treated wood products.
Known across the industry as “Joe in the Forest,” Joe has earned a reputation for his practical, deeply informed market perspective. Before joining FEA in 2019, he wrote and published Notes from the Forest, a weekly lumber and panel report he launched in 1987.
