Godfrey Wood Products is looking forward to building a new OSB factory on the site of a former paper mill in Jay, Maine, which was destroyed by an explosion almost five years ago, WMTV reported (4-11-25).
However, the company has all of the permits but hasn’t been able to move forward with construction because of uncertainty with tariffs, according to owner John Godfrey. A lot of the equipment needed for the facility would come from Europe.
Plans to build the new plant, with an expected annual production capacity of 800 MMSF, were announced in March 2024.
