VMG Group Opens Its New LVL and I-Joist Manufacturing Facility in Lithuania

VMG Group, an Eastern European wood enterprise, has opened a laminated veneer lumber (LVL) and I-joist factory in Lithuania, according to Timber Trades Journal Online (10-2-23). The new facility is the first LVL plant in Lithuania.

The operation—VMG Lignum Construction—has a yearly capacity of 120,000 m3 of LVL and 15 million meters of I-joists. In addition, a particleboard line already on site produces 200,000 m3 of structural particleboard.

According to the report, VMG’s plan is for the factory to supply both local and global markets to enable faster development of sustainable construction, with engineered timber products and building solutions delivered to both new and renovation projects. VMG’s first targeted production markets for export are Scandinavian and other European countries, North America, and Australia.

In the subsequent phase of development, the solutions’ range will be expanded to include other segments of sustainable building structures, such as prefabricated walls and ceiling panels, LVL columns, and wall chipboard with a decorative finish.
