After 64-years of McIntosh family ownership, TimberLab Solutions has officially joined the Red Stag Group. Originally announced in mid-August, Red Stag Group last week completed a share sale, and the acquisition has been finalized.
The purchase combines one of New Zealand’s oldest mass timber businesses with one of the country’s youngest. Red Stag runs the New Zealand’s largest sawmill, a cross laminated timber (CLT) factory and a frame and truss operation. TimberLab Solutions brings mass timber glulam, LVL, and CLT expertise and capacity. Timberlab has been in Auckland since 1958, while Red Stag only opened its CLT factory in 2021 in Rotorua.
Details of the sale were not provided. The company will be known as “Red Stag TimberLab.”
