Kalesnikoff Mass Timber Launches Modular Timber Classrooms

Kalesnikoff Mass Timber has launched a new line of modular timber classrooms designed to address growing pressure on school infrastructure across North America.

In a statement, President and CEO Chris Kalesnikoff said the product targets capacity constraints facing expanding communities. “We are proud to introduce another innovative product from our exceptional team. Many communities in North America are growing, leaving local schools at capacity. We are looking forward to showcasing this product to educators and decision makers—we think this is the way of the future.”

He added that rising construction costs and labor shortages are increasing interest in modular solutions. “Given the rising costs and other challenges of traditional construction, and ongoing labor shortages, these modular classrooms—like modular housing—are generating a lot of interest.”

The units can be configured as single classrooms or combined for expansions or full school builds, including multi-story layouts. The modules are designed for rapid assembly and installation, with mechanical systems, digital infrastructure, heating, and plumbing pre-installed.

Constructed using CLT from Kalesnikoff’s facility in the West Kootenays, BC, the classrooms feature CLT floors, walls, and ceilings designed for durability and performance across climates.
