Tolko Indefinitely Curtails Veneer Production at Heffley Creek

Tolko Industries has indefinitely curtailed veneer production at its Heffley Creek mill in Kamloops, BC, citing wildfires, drought conditions, and limited access to economic fiber, Castanet Kamloops reported (8-19-26).

Tolko said the curtailment affects its veneer facilities, while plywood and laminated veneer lumber operations will continue as long as fiber availability allows.

In a statement to Castanet Kamloops, a Tolko spokesperson said:

“We recognize the impact this has on employees and their families. While conditions remain challenging, we are confident in the future of our business and are prepared to return these operations to full production as soon as fiber availability supports it.”

“As with previous operational curtailments in BC, this decision reflects the ongoing challenges associated with accessing economic fiber.”

“We continue to actively manage our supply to maximize the value of available logs and support the long-term sustainability of our operations.”
