Southeastern Timber Products Completes Ackerman, MS, Sawmill Expansion

Southeastern Timber Products (STP) in Ackerman, Mississippi, has expended following major investments in new facilities, WCBI reported (10-22-25). The lumber mill, a fixture in Choctaw County for more than 50 years, is positioning itself for long-term growth.

In 2021, STP partnered with Tolko to support expansion, leading to construction of a new $120 million sawmill completed this summer. The company also added a new planer mill in 2024. “We built a sawmill from the ground up, new crane, all new machinery,” said STP Plant Manager Jason Watson.

The mill’s annual production capacity is expected to triple—from 100 million to 300 million board feet—creating about 40 new jobs and generating significant local economic impact.

STP sources timber from landowners across 15 surrounding counties, providing steady business for regional loggers, truckers, and suppliers. The Economic Development District said the county hopes to add a new public road to help with log traffic in the future.
