Paper Excellence Canada Extends Catalyst Crofton Paper Curtailment Through February 2024

Paper Excellence Canada on Thursday (11-23-23) announced that it was extending the curtailment of its paper operation at the Catalyst Crofton facility for an additional 90 days—i.e., through the end of February 2024—due to challenging market conditions which have not recovered as expected.

The extended curtailment means that approximately 70 paper operations employees will not be returning to work in December as originally planned. The press release said that Paper Excellence Canada continues to work with its employees to mitigate the impact of the ongoing paper production curtailment.

The mill’s pulp operations, which support approximately 400 union and salaried staff employees, will continue production during the extended paper curtailment.

Paper Excellence Canada will continue to supply its customers with products typically made at Crofton from other mills within the Paper Excellence Group where possible.
