Domtar Announces Indefinite Closure of Maniwaki, QC, Sawmill

The Domtar sawmill in Maniwaki, Quebec, will temporarily close again, starting October 10, CBC reported (9-03-25).

The company, which acquired the facility when it purchased Resolute Forest Products in 2023, confirmed the indefinite shutdown to Radio-Canada on Wednesday.

About 120 workers lost their jobs in a previous closure that began in December 2024. The mill had resumed operations in June, running about 50 hours a week.

Domtar cited difficult market conditions and US softwood lumber duties as the reasons for the closure.
