Commonwealth Plywood Announces Reopening of Rapides des Joachims Sawmill in Quebec

Commonwealth Plywood Company Ltd. in a press release today (10-19-22) announced that it is reopening its sawmill located in Rapides des Joachims, Pontiac Country, Quebec. The mill had been closed for several years due to a number of factors not related to the company.

According to the press release, Commonwealth has invested over $1 million (CAD) to get the sawmill back into operation and it expects to open the mill and begin operations in November of this year.

The sawmill will begin processing white and red pine logs on a one shift basis and expects to hire 65 people to operate the mill and forestry operations in the very near future.
