Boise Cascade Announces Indefinite Curtailment of Lumber Production in Chapman, Alabama

Boise Cascade on Tuesday (11-28-23) announced the indefinite curtailment of lumber production at its Chapman, Alabama, sawmill. The curtailment will impact approximately 80 positions. According to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notification, operations are scheduled to cease on January 28th, 2024.

In a press release, Boise Cascade Senior Vice President of Manufacturing Operations Chris Seymour said:

“The team has worked diligently every day; however, a combination of challenges, including required future investments and overall profitability, has led to this decision. It was a difficult and unfortunate decision, but after evaluating a number of factors over the past year, it is not feasible to continue operating at an efficient level.”
