Explosion and Fire Reported at Robbins Lumber in Maine

An explosion and large fire were reported Friday at Robbins Lumber Inc. in Searsmont, Maine, NEWS2 reported (5-15-26). The incident triggered a multi-department emergency response across the region.

Robbins Lumber is a family-owned sawmill operation located at 506 Main Street South in Searsmont. The facility processes and sells lumber products and has long been one of the town’s primary employers.

A staff member who answered the phone at Robbins Lumber confirmed to reporters that an active situation was underway at the facility. Video footage shared with local news outlets showed heavy flames and thick smoke rising from the mill.

The incident remained an active and developing situation Friday afternoon as emergency personnel continued responding at the scene. The extent of any injuries was not available.
