Due to Lumber and Panel Shortages Florida Residents Urged to Prepare for Hurricane Season Now

Hurricane season is scheduled to start in less than 2-weeks and Florida residents are being urged to start thinking about their preparations before any storms threaten the Sunshine State. This year’s preparations are going to be different, due to the ongoing shortage of lumber and panels and their higher prices. Experts are advising that if you think you might need lumber and panels to board up your home this summer, buy it as soon as you can and store it in a safe place — noting that there is no guarantee this summer that your local home improvement store will have supplies on hand. Given supply problems, it will be uncertain if they can or will get resupplied in a timely manner.
