Canadian and BC Officials to Meet in Vancouver for Forestry Summit

Representatives from the BC government and Ottawa will meet Monday in Vancouver for a forestry summit focused on supporting the province’s wood industry amid steep US duties and tariffs, The Canadian Press reported (11-3-25).

Federal minister Dominic LeBlanc, who oversees Canada–US trade, will join BC Premier David Eby and the province’s forests and jobs ministers to discuss measures aimed at supporting workers and businesses.

BC officials say their goal for the summit is to secure greater federal assistance for an industry employing tens of thousands across the province.

The BC Council of Forest Industries said last month that Ottawa should bring the same urgency to lumber as it has to disputes with the US over steel, aluminum, and energy.
