Canada Provides CA$30 Million to Conifex Timber for Mackenzie Facility

On Friday, Canada’s Minister of Finance and National Revenue François-Philippe Champagne announced a CA$30 million (US$21.4 million) loan to Conifex Timber Inc. through the Large Enterprise Tariff Loan (LETL) facility.

The funding will support Conifex’s operations in Mackenzie, BC, as the company adapts to ongoing trade uncertainty. The government said recent changes to the LETL facility, including greater liquidity support and longer repayment terms, are intended to help affected businesses maintain operations, protect jobs, and invest in long-term competitiveness.

Conifex operates a sawmill and bioenergy plant in Mackenzie and supports 260 direct jobs. The company produces lumber and renewable energy, using residuals from its manufacturing process to generate power sold to customers including BC Hydro.
