UPM Plans Downtime at Two Pulp Mills in Finland

On Wednesday, UPM Fibers said the maintenance shutdown at its Kaukas pulp mill in Lappeenranta, Finland, which began in August, will be extended two weeks until October 11.

The company also announced a temporary two-week closure at its Pietarsaari pulp mill in Jakobstad in November.

“We are focused on ensuring the profitability of our business. By curtailing our production, we adapt to the pulp market situation and high wood cost level,” said Petri Hakanen, Senior Vice President, UPM Fibers Finland Operations.
