Stora Enso Names Its New Swedish Forest Asset Company Bergslagets Skogar
On Thursday, Stora Enso announced Bergslagets Skogar as the new name of its Swedish forest asset company, marking another step in preparations to separate the business into a standalone publicly listed company.
As previously announced, Stora Enso expects to complete the separation of its Swedish forest assets in the first half of 2027, subject to relevant approvals. Following the transaction, Bergslagets Skogar would comprise more than 1.2 million hectares of forest land in Sweden and become Europe’s largest listed pure-play forest company.
The company said the name reflects both the historical footprints in the old copper mine in Falun and a long-term approach to value creation.
Commenting on the announcement, Bergslagets Skogar CEO Tuomas Hallenberg said:
“Forest land is a long-term asset class where value is generated through biological growth and sustainable forest management. Bergslagets Skogar reflects our ambition to manage our assets with a clear focus on long-term value creation and operational excellence.”
