Metsä Group to Restart Joutseno Pulp Mill in Finland; Announces Curtailment at Rauma
On Tuesday, Metsä Group said it will restart production at its Joutseno pulp mill in Finland on Monday, December 8, following a shutdown that began in June.
At the same time, the company announced that its Rauma pulp mill will begin a production curtailment of about one month starting Monday, December 15, with a gradual restart by department beginning Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
In a statement, Metsä Fibre CEO Ismo Nousiainen said:
“Through production shutdowns, we are adjusting our production to reflect the market demand for long-fiber softwood pulp. Since the market situation for softwood pulp is estimated to continue uncertain for the beginning of next year, we are preparing for significant production curtailments at Joutseno pulp mill also during 2026.”
