Metsä Fiber Concludes Negotiations on Temporary Layoffs at Four Finnish Sawmills

On Monday, Metsä Fiber Group said that change negotiations at its sawmills in Lappeenranta, Rauma, Renko, and Vilppula, Finland, on possible temporary layoffs of up to 90 days have ended.

Following the conclusion of the talks, the company decided that, if necessary, it may implement temporary layoffs affecting all personnel at the four sawmills from January 2026 through the end of June 2026. The maximum layoff period would be 90 days.

The timing and length of any layoff periods, as well as any changes to working time arrangements, will be determined separately at each site.

In Finland, a temporary layoff suspends work and wage payment but leaves the employment relationship in force.
