Six-Story Mass Timber Office Building Planned in Penticton, BC
Plans are moving ahead for a six-story mass timber office building in Penticton, BC, that the developer says could become a model for low-carbon construction across the province, the Journal of Commerce reported (11-28-25).
The CA$60-million project, called Nexus, is proposed for the city’s new Innovation District, a master-planned community located between Okanagan and Skaha lakes and across from Penticton Regional Hospital.
“The Innovation District master plan for Penticton envisions a 10-acre mixed-use community with more than 1,500 homes, offices, medical services, retail, and more,” explains Rocky Sethi, managing director with Stryke Group, which is co-developing the venture with Tien Sher Group.
Sethi noted that the project received a CA$500,000 grant from BC’s Forestry Innovation Investment. He described Nexus as “a foundational building in Penticton’s Innovation District master plan, not just an office tower, but a multi-purpose, mass timber landmark that bridges commerce, community, and sustainability.”
The building will use a post-and-beam mass timber system with a two-level concrete underground garage. Phase one of the district, which includes Nexus, is expected to be completed in late 2027. More than a dozen additional buildings are planned for the site.
