Kronospan Completes Acquisition of Sebeș, Romania, Sawmill

On Tuesday, Kronospan said it completed its acquisition of ZG Timber’s Sebeș sawmill in Romania, formerly part of the Ziegler Group. The company said the deal secures ongoing operations and preserves more than 500 direct jobs at the facility. It also supports a broad network of indirect employment across suppliers, contractors, logistics partners, and service providers.

With regulatory approvals finalized, the sawmill will be integrated into Kronospan’s Romanian operations. Kronospan said the move reinforces its long-term commitment to Romania and reflects confidence in the country’s industrial capacity despite a challenging economic backdrop.

Kronospan will incorporate sawn timber from the Sebeș facility into its product portfolio. The addition expands its established output of particleboard, MDF, and OSB produced in Sebeș and Brașov.
