Kronospan Acquires Sawmill in Sebes, Romania, From the Ziegler Group
On Monday, Kronospan announced the acquisition of ZG Timber’s sawmill in Sebeș, Romania, from the Ziegler Group. The acquisition ensures the continuity of operations at the facility, safeguarding 500 jobs following the insolvency of Ziegler Holding at the end of 2024.
The agreement was signed on March 1, with the transaction expected to be finalized by mid-year, pending regulatory approvals.

As part of its strategy to enhance its product offerings, Kronospan will now incorporate sawn timber products into its global portfolio. As a new addition, sawn timber products will complement the company’s existing production of wood-based panels, including particleboard, MDF, and OSB at its Romanian plants in Sebes and Brasov.
Kronospan plans to invest in modernizing the Sebes sawmill to further enhance its production capabilities.
