Brazilian Exports of Wood-Based Products Declined Year-Over-Year in June
According to the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), in June, Brazilian exports of wood-based products (except pulp and paper) declined 39.0% year-over-year in value—from US$481.0 million in June 2022 to US$292.0 million in June 2023.
Pine sawnwood exports fell 23.0% in value, decreasing from US$75.7 million in June 2022 to US$58.6 million. In volume terms, exports decreased 5.0% during the same period—from 264,800 cu.m to 251,000 cu.m.
Tropical sawnwood exports decreased 49.0% in volume, falling from 56,200 cu.m in June 2022 to 28,800 cu.m. In value terms, exports decreased 47.0%—from US$26.9 million to US$14.4 million over the same time period.
Demand for pine plywood exports fell almost 50.0% year-over-year, declining from US$96.9 million in June 2022 to US $48.7 million. In volume terms, exports dropped 33.0% over the same time period—from 221,900 cu.m to 148,300 cu.m.
Tropical plywood exports declined 49.0% in volume and by 47.0% in value, down from 5,500 cu.m and US$3.5 million in June 2022 to 2,900 cu.m and US$1.8 million.
The value of wooden furniture exports fell from US$59.3 million in June 2022 to US$45.5. This represents a 23.0% decline.
