Brazilian Exports of Wood-Based Products Decline Year-Over-Year in February

Brazilian exports of wood-based products (except pulp and paper) in February decreased 8.5% in value year-over-year, from US$304.5 million in February 2024 to $278.6 million in February 2025, the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) reported.

Pine sawnwood exports rose 21% in value between February 2024 and February 2025, increasing from $55.6 million to $76.5 million. In volume, exports grew 15% over the same period, from 248,500 m3 to 285,100 m3.

Tropical sawnwood exports declined 0.5% in volume, from 21,000 m3 in February 2024 to 20,900 m3 in February 2025. In value, exports dropped 18%, from $10.4 million to $8.5 million.

Pine plywood exports edged up 0.2% in value year-over-year, from $57.5 million to $57.6 million. In volume, exports increased just over 3%, from 180,300 m3 to 186,400 m3.

Tropical plywood exports grew 28% in volume and 30% in value, rising from 1,000 m3 and $1.8 million in February 2024 to 1,300 m3 and $2.3 million in February 2025.

Wooden furniture exports increased 1% in value, from $45.8 million in February 2024 to $46.3 million in February 2025.

Potential US Tariffs

US tariffs on imported products from Brazil remain a major concern, the ITTO reported. As a result, Brazil continues to actively seek new markets and trading partners for its wood products to offset any US tariffs.
