Melbourne, Australia’s Anzac Station, part of the city’s Metro Tunnel Project, features a glulam diagrid canopy spanning approximately 84 meters long and 20 meters wide, according to a feature by Wood Solutions.

The train and tram interchange is one of five new underground stations being delivered through the Metro Tunnel Project. The canopy structure is supported by 16-meter steel columns and includes 12 skylights along its central spine.

Wood Solutions said the exposed timber and skylights were incorporated as part of the project’s “open metro” design approach, which emphasizes natural light and open public space.

The station’s design also aims to connect the structure visually with the nearby Shrine of Remembrance and surrounding parklands.
