US Weekly Jobless Claims Decrease for the Week Ending November 12th

The US Department of Labor is reporting that the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial unemployment claims was 222,000, a decrease of 4,000 from the previous week’s revised level (originally reported as 225,000). The 4-week moving average was 221,000—an increase of 2,000 from the previously week’s revised level of 219,000 (originally reported as 218,750).

The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment, known as continuing claims, during the week ending November 5, 2022, was 1,507,000; this is an increase of 13,000 from the previous week’s revised level of 1,494,000 (originally reported as 1,493,000). The 4-week moving average was 1,481,500—an increase of 31,000 from the previous week’s revised level of 1,450,500 (originally reported as 1,450,250).

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.0% for the week ending November 5, 2022, unchanged from the previous week’s unrevised rate.
