On Thursday, the US Department of Labor reported that the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial unemployment claims was 206,000 for the week ending Saturday, February 14, a decrease of 23,000 from the previous week’s revised level of 229,000 (originally 227,000). The four-week moving average was 219,000—a decrease of 1,000 from the prior week’s revised average of 220,000 (originally 219,500).
The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending February 7 was 1,869,000, an increase of 17,000 from the previous week’s revised level of 1,852,000 (originally 1,862,000). The four-week moving average was 1,845,250—an increase of 1,000 from the prior week’s revised average of 1,844,250 (originally 1,846,750).
The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.2% for the week ending February 7, unchanged from the previous week’s unrevised rate.
